Training for the Yorkshire Wolds Ultra
I've been eagerly preparing for the Yorkshire Wolds Ultra for several months now, and the time has finally come to put my training to the test. The prospect of covering over 31 miles through the stunning countryside has filled me with excitement and a sense of purpose. As I lace up my running shoes and embark on yet another training session, I'm reminded of why I'm taking on this challenge in the first place: to raise vital funds and awareness for ME Research UK.
ME Research UK is a charity dedicated to funding biomedical research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), a debilitating illness that affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK alone. People with ME experience severe fatigue, muscle pain, and neurological issues, often leaving them housebound or bedbound. Despite the severity of the illness, there is still no cure or effective treatment, and funding for research remains scarce.

This cause is particularly close to my heart, as I've witnessed firsthand the impact ME can have on the lives of those affected and their families. By participating in the Yorkshire Wolds Ultra, I'm hoping to raise both awareness and much-needed funds to support the vital research conducted by ME Research UK.
Throughout my training, I've been fueled by the knowledge that every step I take brings me closer to making a difference for those living with ME. My body has grown stronger, and my determination to succeed has only intensified. I'm grateful for the incredible support I've received from friends, family, and the community, and I'm inspired by the resilience and courage of those affected by ME.
As I prepare to tackle the Yorkshire Wolds Ultra, I invite you to join me in supporting this life-changing cause. You can donate to ME Research UK through my JustGiving page by visiting the following link: JustGivingLizzyHodcroft
Your generous contributions will go directly toward funding critical research to improve the lives of those living with ME.
I'm filled with a mix of anticipation, excitement, and determination. I know that the journey will be tough, but I'm driven by the knowledge that my efforts are supporting a cause that means so much to me and countless others.
So, here's to the Yorkshire Wolds Ultra and the journey ahead. I'll be giving it my all, not only for my own sense of accomplishment but for the invaluable impact our collective efforts will have on ME Research UK and those affected by ME. And to anyone else facing challenges, remember that when we unite in a common cause, we can achieve extraordinary things.
